Now no 'Brick': Nokia

Leading handset manufacturer, Nokia unveiled on Wednesday a slimmer version of its Communicator, its 9300.

"A high percentage of the current Communicator users are men. The (new phone) fits a lot better in a handbag, but also in a shirt pocket," said Niklas Savander, Nokia's senior vice president for business devices.

The newer model is 1.6 ounces lighter than its predecessor, 9500 which will lure more women to buy this phone. 9500 may also lose its nickname, "the brick" which was given because of its bulk. The 9300 will be out in the market by early next year. The 9300 when compared to the 9500 is smaller and lighter because of the elimination of the Camera and the short-range Wi-Fi chip which also reduced the size of the battery. The 9300 will also features Blackberry's e-mail service.
